Kennedy Scales Represents Hampton at the ICFJ ( International Center for Journalists ) Dinner
Kennedy Scales was invited to attend the ICFJ (International Center of Journalists) 40th Anniversary!
She was one of the ONLY Black female journalists in attendance while representing Hampton University's Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications department.

Katelyn Flowers Recognized For Outstanding Community Service
Katelyn Flowers was recognized by Mayor Donnie Tuck at City Hall for her outstanding community service in the Hampton Roads area.
Mahari Marshall 2023-2024 Beta Gamma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. 'Ms. 1914'
Sister Mahari Marshall received the title of “Miss 1914” in the Phi Beta Sigma Pageant. Her platform was 'Speak'; a platform that focuses on increasing the awareness of speech, language, and hearing in minority communities. Congratulations Mahari, we are so proud of you!
Gamma Theta gets Recognized for 75 Years
The Gamma Theta chapter was recognized by Hampton University's NPHC for serving the campus for over 75 years. Soror Senator Mamie Locke presented the chapter with a certificate during the March NPHC meeting.
Mr. Ivy 2023 Scholarship Pageant
Gamma Theta hosted their annual Mr. Ivy Scholarship Pageant for the 2022-2023 school year. This year’s Mr. Ivy is Felipe Gonzalez. Congratulations to Melvin Holloway IV for winning Mr. Gamma Theta & Anthony Turner for winning Mr. 1947. We are so proud of your hard work and look forward to having you all on the court!

Sister Kemia Bridgewater was chosen as McDonald’s 2023 Change Leaders. A collective of 10 young, Black movers-and-shakers who inspire and enact remarkable change in their communities and beyond. Each Change Leader received $20,000, totaling $200,000 collectively, and have access to elevated platforms to amplify their community missions, ranging from financial literacy to equality across the education system to mental health advocacy. Congratulations Kemia, we are so proud of you!
Nupol Gets Recognized at NBA Game
In honor of MLK Day, Sister Nupol Kiazolu was honored by the Brooklyn Nets for her activism and her community service contributions to Brooklyn. Nupol has led hundreds of protests and community service. We are so proud of you Nupol!
Gamma Theta Participates in The 2023 NPHC Stroll Off

Olivia Walker 2022-2023 Gamma Epsilon Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. 'Ms. 1911'
Sister Olivia Walker received the title of “Miss 1911” in the Omega Psi Phi Pageant. Her platform was P.S.-- Promoting Self: encouraging mental health within the African American community with both psychological and physiological standpoints. We are so proud of you Olivia!
Gamma Theta Alumni Donated $ 160,000
Gamma Theta Alumni raised $160,000 and donated it to Hampton University during the 2022 Homecoming football game in honor of the Chapter’s 75th Anniversary! It’s always good to give back and implement service to all mankind!

Sister Adoria Jones ended her tenure as the HU Women’s Caucus director by putting together the first annual Women’s March. The Women’s March was started in the fight for women’s equality.

Camille President’s Cup
Sister Camille Birdsong was awarded with the Hampton University’s President’s Cup Award. She received this prestigious award at Hampton University’s 47th Annual Honors Convocation Ceremony. The award is eligible to Hampton University seniors with a GPA of 3.5 or above. Camille is finishing her senior year with a GPA of 3.7!
Sara White House Correspondence
Sister Sara Avery won a scholarship from the White House Correspondents Association. This allowed Sara to be invited to the WHite House as well as the White House Correspondents Dinner. She was also invited to the ABC News pre-party. Congratulations Sara!
69th Marvelous Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference
The Gamma Theta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. was honored to be a hosting chapter for the 69th Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference here in Hampton, VA. Over the weekend, our Gorgeous & Talented chapter received many accolades for both our chapter and academic achievements. We would like to congratulate Madame Regional Director King Congleton for directing this year’s conference!
